Posterizing the Workshop

Ya know how you go to the workshop every year, and maybe you bring home a hat to commemorate the big event ... and that hat winds up in the back of your closet for years until you stumble across it again? Have you found yourself wishing you had something to remember the workshop and the host city beyond just the tote bag you get at registration?

Well, guess what? We're ushering in a new era of commemorative swag at SNDBoston.

We're goin' all poster on your a$$. Pardon our potty mouth -- but we're so freakin' excited about this that it's a bit hard to stay contained.

This year's workshop will be bookended with a pair of posters that you all will want to get your hands on.

The first is the official SND Boston poster, shown above, from the fine folks at The Heads of State, a great poster design team out of Seattle and Philly. The Heads of State have done gig posters for the likes of R.E.M., Wilco, Modest Mouse and Jeff Tweedy.

How will you get your hands on one of these beautiful posters, featuring the likeness of that classic midnight ride of Paul Revere? Simple. Bring some cash to the workshop -- you'll be able to buy one for $10. A limited number of the edition signed by H.O.S. will be available as well.

But wait! We're not done! After the awards dinner on Saturday night, you have GOT to make your way to the After Party that will take place in the Georgian Room at the Park Plaza. Why? Well, it'll feature tons of raffle prizes, 99 of which are the next poster on our list.

Mile 44 is the brainchild of Dave Windisch and Stacy Curtis, a pair of SND-award winning designer/illustrators. Mile 44 has done work for OK Go, Hank Williams III, Sebadoh, Say Anything, Saves the Day -- and their work has also been selected by Lollapalooza and GigPosters.com as some of the best up-and-coming gig poster work in the world.

Mile 44 has done an original hand-pulled silkscreen poster previewing next year's Las Vegas workshop, and we can't wait to get our hands on this one, as well!

Mile 44 has done a run of 100 signed and numbered prints. The coveted No. 1 in the series will be double-matted and custom framed and entered in the silent auction. Nos. 2 through 100? Well, that's why you need to be at the After Party! Because those other 99 posters are going to be given away as raffle prizes.

Now, Mile 44 likes to take things a step further than just a poster. Rumor has it they've also signed on to do the official SNDVegas poster -- a poster that will somehow work in congress with their Vegas preview poster to form one combo work of art! So you'll have to get to Vegas in '08 to finish the set!
