Plan to watch the Red Sox?
The Blog's got Boston insider info

The Blog was bleary-eyed this morning and posted a note on Friday's big American League Championship Game opener at Fenway. Lucky for us our colleague, one Kristin Lenz, came up with a swell list of four fun places close to the Boston ballpark to check out the game. We're tagging them as their own post so y'all don't miss out.

Kristin says ... Go early and stay late. Or go in after the game begins. Or if you're just looking for a hot dog, there is a great scene out and about around the park. Worth a stroll and a few snapshots.

Get your macho on at GameOn (that's it in the photo). It's literally under Fenway. Psst ... Go downstairs. TVs galore.

Local brew? Try Boston Beer Works. One Blogger has been here for the past two games!

A classic: Cask 'N Flagon. Never anything wrong with a classic, just like the Red Sox.

Around the corner: Eastern Standard. This place is not for the fanatic, but close enough to say you were nearby, and perhaps you can walk around the park

Thanks for the great suggestions, Kristin ... We're not sure how you found the time to also play tour guide since you're coordinating that whole Intern thing, but we appreciate it. A band of sports designers bound for Boston should be thanking you when they see you, too!

Those are awesome suggestions, Kristin! They are definitely the right places if you're looking to get swept up in Sox fever. And I really do mean swept up, it's a zoo down there even during regular season games. Any bar in the Back Bay within walking distance of the Park Plaza (Parish Cafe, Cottonwood, Champions, Cleary's, Seven's, and many more), plus the pub in the hotel, O'Connor's, will be great places to watch the game without worrying about lines at the bar and on the subway. Anywhere you go, you'll be in Red Sox Nation.

Word on the street is that Cottonwood has some good margaritas. That's just the word on the street.
