Lunch with Mango

The Blog caught up with former SND President and current Northwestern force Susan Mango Curtis over chowder at lunch. As always, the energy was high, the topics wide-ranging, the vibe solid.

Much of the conversation centered on how we can apply what we're doing in the New Media training to our organizations, with Mango feeding us examples she's heard of from around the country. She talked about how USA Today is reworking its Web presence to be more personal, the organizational shakeup at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and what she learned from the latest Poynter Eye-Track survey ("These kids coming online now, they're not going to pay for anything. Free is it.")

We also chatted about the importance of hands-on training, such as the New Media session today. Should the entire workshop be hands-on drills? An interesting thought, indeed!
