New Region 3 Director
Newly appointed Region 3 director Melissa Angle, right, with Cassie Armstrong of the Sentinel at last fall's annual workshop in Orlando.
So with the abrupt departure from the Southeast of Region 3 director Nicole Bogdas, the "orphaned" states found themselves in desperate need of a new voice on the SND board.
To the rescue comes Melissa Angle from the Orlando Sentinel, who will jump in to save the day and immediately assume the duties of Region 3 director.
She's been an active member of SND for several years, helping organize last year's annual workshop in Orlando and enduring the cold in Syracuse as a competition facilitator.
Melissa is a senior designer at the Sentinel, where she leads the visual storytelling on A1 and special projects. In 2006, she spearheaded the paper's effort to revamp its Monday metro section into a weekly visual report called Local In-Depth, an effort that won multiple SND awards and Employee of the Year distinction.
Prior to joining the Sentinel, Melissa worked as a designer and copy editor at The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Welcome to the board, Melissa!
