Warren Buffett discusses the newspaper industry

In case you missed it, SportsDesigner had an interesting post over the weekend. Charlie Rose recently interviewed Buffalo News owner/multi-zillionaire Warren Buffett and a good chunk of the interview was spent discussing the newspaper industry. As Rich pointed out, the good stuff starts at 8:56:

At one point, Buffett comments on the unique success of the Wall Street Journal, noting that "Barney Kilgore came up with this wonderful concept many years ago ... he had this idea - every other newspaper divided itself by town ... he conceived of a city that was not defined by geography but was defined by interest. ... It was a brilliant, brilliant, brilliant idea."

That's Barney Kilgore. The Journal's Genius. DePauw University graduate and former editor of The DePauw newspaper. *ahem*

Great interview from the second richest man in the world with the second dorkiest laugh. Luckily, I have his autograph in my collection. I wish I had it on a blank check, though!
