Graphic stuff: Sopranos finale

It's pretty much a national pastime this week to conjecture on the fate of everyone's favorite mobster/father/therapy patient. And no The Blog isn't talking about De Niro and Crystal in Analyze This.

It's HBO's The Sopranos and the last show is Sunday (6/10). Set your TiVos or be there. The show is infesting the country like a horde of locusts.

The Blog could write an entire Movie Monday review on the show's ties with newspapers and publications (Howabout Departures magazine last week, Eh?). Instead we'll just show you some fun graphics The Blog found from the official publication of the New Jersey mob drama, The Star-Ledger:

-- This great interactive takes the cast of the show and lets you sort by who got whacked, who whacked 'em, and how they got it. Pretty vicious! Click here.

-- This map shows locations of various Sopranos' scenes and where in Jersey they were shot. Great local info. Click here.

Still thinking about what's gonna happen Sunday? So is The Blog. Check out San Francisco Chronicle TV writer Tim Goodman's blog with a couple hundred great conspiracy theories.

35 minutes and counting, and here's what I think will happen. Carm, Meadow and A.J. are all killed by Phil's guys because they're in Tony's vehicle. Tony is overcome by grief and takes out all the New York family by himself while they're celebrating Tony's supposed demise. Tony then returns to Dr. Melfi for grief therapy -- and since she knows she can no longer help him in that area, she reverts back to her one-time lust for Tony. The door of her office closes. And ... scene.

Or ... Melfi has been working for the Feds this whole time. The above scenario happens, but when Tony shows up, she arrests him.

Or I'm completely off base and should just shut up and enjoy the end.

But if I'm right -- don't forget to check out that timestamp!

I feel really cheated. The least they could've done was finished the scene as Meadow joins the family in the diner - showing us that life goes on....

Don't you get it? Tony got whacked. The scene ended as the bullet hits his skull.

I would agree that Tony was shot if the camera view point was from his viewpoint, but it was looking at him. 8.5 years and it ended like it began. A cut instead of a fade. I am pissed that I got no closure and only guesses and arguements. Chase is not a good director either, he should have left it to the handfull of other directors he had used over the years, instead of forcing too much into one hour. I feel let down by the finale as a series long, since the first episode, Sopranos fan.

I disagree...Chase is brilliant. The ending may be in question but, to my delight, Tony lives on...

I agree that he is brilliant as a producer, just not as a director. There were funky cuts and splices where the audio track changed during a scene, although there was no change in scene or the timeline. Did Tony live on???

I have to say YES. Otherwise I will cry. My belief is the feds were in the diner. You?

This last episode was a huge let-down....very disappointing! We all expected some kind of closure or ending...too much just left to the imagination.

I think that is what Chase left us, our own idea of what happened, or at least that is what my wife is consoling me with.... So I say yes, that can be the case. I think he got shot it the head by the guy that walked in the bathroom just as Meadow walked in the door to see it happen. Just my opinion.

Every episode ended with music at the closing credits. 'Cept this one. This one ended with dead silence after the long stretch of blackness. Why? Because the guy who went into the bathroom blew the restaurant up. Blam. That's it. The music ends.

Or they're just leaving it open for interpretation so they can make a movie out of it down the road.

As long as Phil was taken out, that's all I cared about.
