Village Voice Infographics:
Dissecting Why I'm Hot

The Blog is sure that many of you are huge fans of Mims' chart-topping hip-hop anthem "This Is Why I'm Hot." But despite rather clear lyrics such as "This is why I'm hot / I'm hot 'cause I'm fly / You ain't 'cause you not," many music listeners remain baffled as to why, exactly, Mims is hot.

Thankfully, New York's Village Voice has stepped in, breaking down the song and providing a few charts and diagrams as helpful visual aids. An excerpt:
Mims is hot because he's fly. But it raises the question: Does being hot guarantee one's being fly? "You ain't 'cause you not" would seem to clear that up.

Read the full analysis with additional flow charts and Venn diagrams over at the Village Voice Web site.

OK, that's pretty funny.

But seriously -- read the lyrics sometime without listening to the song. Then you'll be goin', 'Why the eff you hot? Not 'cause you can write.'

I keed, I keed. I'm just jealous 'cause I don't have a hit song.

"You ain't cause you not" does not make any sense.

Please explain to me -- concisely -- how I ain't cause I'm not.

It's not even really an ad hominem fallacy. It's just bizarre.

(That was a side rant, clever graphic notwithstanding, btw.)
