Well, it's official. Adobe has announced that it will not update Freehand, acquired from Macromedia after their 2005 merger. From here on out it's Illustrator or Cricket Graph.

The Blog remembers days long ago as an intern in the graphics department of The State in South Carolina. There, The Blog learned that Illustrator was the devil and Freehand - with its blessed "Paste Inside" command - was heaven on earth.

Oh, how times change. (Right, Quark?)

Freehand users are not completely out of luck, however. Adobe is offering an upgrade to Illustrator CS3 for $199. So, Freehand users, you've got that going for you. Which is nice.
