Visual vocab: sparkline

The new book Beautiful Evidence from Edward Tufte coins a term for something we have all seen: sparkline.

What's a sparkline? A small, data-rich, word-sized graphic that can be inserted into text, and understood at a glance (you're seeing an example at the top of this post from the chapter in Tufte's book).
